My name is Steve Thewis and  I am a professional photographer, retoucher, and digital artist originally from Belgium. I am now based in Bedfordshire, UK and my services are available all around UK. I am also a teacher and a coach in Photography and Photoshop, and I do talks and seminars regarding the field of photography and photoshop.

My services are focused on promotional and commercial materials for CosPlay, entertainers, bands, models, fitness, industry professionals, and many others. Recently I have been blown away by my colleagues photos on Facebook. We all work as magicians, and these weren't your run of the mill images. I could see their web presence increasing due to the impact of the photos.

I got in touch with Steve and from start to finish have been blown away with both the quality and speed of his work. Steve researched my work to create unique images for me. We arranged a photo-shoot, from which I expected a handful of images to choose from. I picked over 60 favourites! I thought I would take this opportunity to express my thanks for your personal one to one tuition session on the use of my WACOM INTUOS PEN TABLET. Without your valuable experience and your ability to clearly explain the very many ways of setting up my tablet in order that I can gain so many time saving menus. I would have been at a total loss as I could find no useful assistance elsewhere that provided me with hands on guidence. Wacom have now opened up a new dimension for me. Having now experienced first hand the capabilities of this product I would have no hesitation in recommending the product to others and the recommendation that they contact you for one to one experience. Wacom in conjunction with you have identified a valuable training market as people will be able to gain the knowledge to use the Wacom product productively without having to struggle on their own.

Louise  - Back to Basics Course

Just finished an excellent 8 week 'Back to Basics' photoshop course with the friendly and extremely knowledgeable Steve Thewis. The sheer size and range of tools available in Photoshop had stopped me exploring it in any depth in the past. Steve's jargon bashing, no nonsense, step by step approach, broke down the different areas of Photoshop in a practical and methodical manner. He used his own skillfully crafted images to show us all helpful tips and tricks to be able to create our own editing styles and improve our workflow. I now feel so much more confident using Photoshop and the course has given skills and knowledge to give my own images a new lease of life.

Mark - Back to Basics Course

As a professional photographer I have attended many courses on how to take better photos, but felt I was never getting the best out of my photos in post. I spent years (and a fortune!) of trying to understand Photoshop from books, but just ended up confused. There were many courses on doing different types of work in Photoshop, but I knew I needed to go back to the very basics to understand the fundamentals. I saw Steve’s Back to Basics Course advertised at Saracen House and decided to take the plunge and book on it. It was run over eight weeks and I have to say it was some of the best investment I have made both in terms of time and money. We started right from square one and built up to the point where we had all the tools to start to get the best out of the power of Photoshop. It was entirely practical so as we learnt something we didn’t just learn the theory of a tool, but how we could use it. The results have been amazing. I think my finished product has already taken a huge leap forward. I can now add that extra touch to the images to make them really stand out, and have the tools to solve some of the problems I had struggled in the past. I am now much more critical of the final product and look forward to producing more “Wow” images in the upcoming wedding season. I cannot recommend the course enough to anyone serious about getting the best out of their images in post-production. Thank you Steve.

Steve contacted me after seeing my Disability Bodybuilding social media page and said that he'd like to do some photography work with me, if I was interested. Admittedly, it isn't something I'd ever really given any thought to, but he came across as very enthusiastic and put some great ideas forward that he had in mind. Having seen his obvious passion for photography and taking a look at some of his previous work, it was clear that he set himself a very high standard and I became pretty excited about how the photo shoot would turn out. Working with him, he was full of ideas and despite being nervous, I had a lot of faith in his ideas. I soon felt at ease with the photo shoot and with Steve's company. No sooner had I left the studio and arrived home, that Steve had already got to work on my images and within a couple of hours, I had received all my images and they were unbelievable in their quality. If I was to ever need or want a photo shoot again or if anyone was to ask me if I knew someone who could do photo shoots, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Steve.

After I received my images, I could use them on my site and they instantly gave my site a more professional look and a lot more supplement companies within the fitness industry seemed to take the time to respond more and I put that down to having high quality images on my site. After people saw them on my site, a lot of the feedback was that I should consider putting together a calendar, again, something I'd never given a thought to, but having asked Steve if it would be okay to use the images, he was more than happy, especially as the money raised from the sale of the calendars has all gone to a children's charity

Hi Steve, i just wanted to say a big thank you for the retouch workshop i recently attended i found it really useful and gained some really useful tips and tricks that im already implementing into my images, my favourites being that really simple teeth whitening trick and putting different backgrounds onto my images. Im now finding that i've gone from using only a few layers in PS to many and also now using groups to keep things tidy. Thanks also for the course notes which gives me something to refer back to as and when i need to and your ongoing support as and when i have needed it.

I came to Steve's workshop as a children's photographer with an interest in digital art. I wanted to be able to incorporate some of the looks and effects into my own work, to help me stand out against the competition. I had a good understanding of Photoshop but absolutely no idea of where to start in creating the amazing work that Steve does! It was fascinating to see Steve's thought process and attention to detail in the lead up to the shoot, and photographing the model with the end look in mind. It wasn't as complicated as I had imagined (easy when you know how, right?!) and the step-by-step instruction of the editing process while we worked on a photograph we had shot was great. I'd previously seen Steve's work on another entertainer I know, it was a no brainer, so I booked in a photoshoot. Prior to the shoot we put lots of ideas together and set out what was needed. On the day Steve was extremely friendly and professional! We had laugh and got to work. The same day Steve had started working on the pictures and they were all completed within the next couple of days and some even the same day! The photos I have received are outstanding.
